Top Bowling Match:
My top match was when I was on TV. Even though I lost, it was still an incredible opportunity and will always be a great memory. I was able to see all of the setup and how it goes on tv. It was way different than just bowling in league. There was bright lights, everyone is watching, cameras all in your face watching every move, it was just how they do it for the pros. I am very blessed to be able to experience such a thing.
What have you enjoyed most about trying out for and bowling for Team Puerto Rico:
I enjoyed making new team mates and meeting new people as well as bowling internationally. I am also learning about my father's heritage and how to speak and understand Spanish. Though there was a language barrier, once my team and I got on the lanes it was just like bowling anywhere else. I appreciated the fact that my team and coach were so supportive and understanding even though I don't speak the language. It helped that they knew English.
Participating in The Tournament of Americas was an awesome learning experience. One of the most gratifying experiences was when I won my first Gold Medal-unexplainable. I was blessed and honored to win a total of 3 Gold medals, 3 Silver, High Game(tie) 242 and the"Sportsmanship Award." I was able to meet bowlers from other countries as well.
How do you think bowling on the team will help you and what you are looking forward to doing with the team:
It will expose me to different levels of bowling around the world as well as how to work and play as a team. My coach told me if we don't play as a team we won't be successful. Always pick up your teammates. If you see them struggling or down, pick them back up.
How has bowling helped you as a person:
By teaching me if I make a mistake, move on and make a change. To always stay positive and to keep level headed. It has taught me the meaning of team and how to work as one. Being discipline in all aspects and having healthy eating habits. Bowling has given me the opportunity to surround myself around great influential people and coaches i.e. Josie Earnest, Mike Sealy, Jeri Edwards, and Del Warren. Bowling has also helped me and my family grow and bond.
