Top Bowling Match: My favorite bowling match I participated in was the 2014-2015 semifinals my sophomore year. McCallie did not qualify as we wanted to, and ended up #4. The biggest test of the season came in the semis against St Benedict, the #1 seed, with four guys who held an average over 200. We were the clear underdogs, and we knew it. The game was very low scoring for a State contest, but it was very close. Toward the third game, we knew it would come down to the end and who can close out their 10th frames better. Our last bowlers of the match were coming up, and we had thought we had already lost. But, Graham Leech, one of our senior captains, ends up striking out. The game ends, and we are heart broken. Unexpectedly, we hear Graham Leech's dad start making commotion about the scores. He added up the scores on the screen, and they came out different than what our coaches had on paper. This meant, either the scoring system was wrong, or our papers. The situation gets brought up to our coaches, and for about 45 minutes, they discussed, and analyzed the scores. This was the most anxiety I had ever had in my life, waiting for the news on who won. Finally the results came in, and McCallie had edged out St Benedict by 2 pins. This was arguably the best bowling match in TSSAA tournament history. The emotions had flipped and we jumped for joy.
Bowling Experience: My teammates are amazing, I could not imagine having others that are better. Some others may be better bowlers, but these guys are my best friends. Sure I have had really good friends throughout school, and other sports, but nothing compares to my McCallie teammates. We have spent a journey that I will never forget, what we would like to call: #roadtostate. Also, my coaches have been amazing. McCallie coaches; Coach Deitrick and Coach Cudd took me in as a freshman, and we have developed an unbelievable relationship since them. They have taught me so much more than just bowling, and I will never forget that. Even though David McGowen is not my coach, he has felt like one. He coaches at McCallie's sister school; GPS. He will help me anytime I ask, he drills all my balls, and he treats me, and the McCallie team as his own as well.
